Komodo open trip cabins on King Cirox 2, fare by fare and door by door

Updated 11 October 2026

The open trip sells King Cirox 2 one cabin at a time on a fixed 3D2N sailing every Monday & Friday. A bunk in the shared Gresik cabin costs IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206); a private cabin costs IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264) to IDR 5,400,000 (≈ USD 331) per person, for two paying guests at least. Leave after day two and the fares drop. Park fees are extra.

The fare table, bunk first

Every fare in the table is per person, for the 3D2N sailing or for two days of it. The 2D1N option is the same boat on the same Monday or Friday: you join at the pickup, sail day one and day two with everyone else, and leave after day two. You finish at Manta Point, and a small transfer boat takes you from there to the pier in Labuan Bajo. A bunk in Gresik then costs IDR 2,900,000 (≈ USD 178) instead of IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206); a Surabaya place costs IDR 3,900,000 (≈ USD 239) instead of IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264). The cheapest 2D1N fare on the boat is IDR 2,900,000 (≈ USD 178).

Every private cabin needs two paying guests. A third or fourth guest in Malang, Kediri or Madiun, a third in Surabaya or Jember, or a fifth in Gresik, sleeps on an extra bed. The boat takes 23 guests at most, and the 23rd place is an extra bed in Gresik. The extra-bed fare is printed in the fare table and on each cabin card.

A child under 3 sails free with a parent; from 3 a child pays the cabin's full fare. The boat's rate sheet prints no single supplement, because a solo guest's fare is the bunk.

We will not dress Gresik up. It is a four-bunk room with a bathroom you share, and it costs less for exactly that reason. Book it if the sum matters more than the door.

Count the doors

The table gave you the fares; this is the key ring they belong to. There are 6 doors, each priced separately on the open trip. Walk them in order, from the cheapest bed to the one with the tub.

  • Gresik, main deck, IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206) per bunk. Four single bunks in two stacks facing each other across a narrow aisle, an ikat cloth over each upper bunk, an LG air conditioner on the wall. One shared bathroom. The yardstick for everything below.
  • Surabaya, main deck, IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264) per person. A double bed with storage under the platform and one small window. Joint cheapest private bathroom on the boat, with Kediri and Jember.
  • Kediri, upper deck, IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264) per person. Same fare as Surabaya, with a near-continuous wall of windows and room for two extra beds. The liferaft canister and an orange life ring sit on the deck outside.
  • Jember, upper deck, IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264) per person. A double with side windows and wooden doors; one extra bed fits.
  • Malang, main deck, IDR 5,150,000 (≈ USD 316) per person. A double and a roofed balcony with two grey bean bags.
  • Madiun, upper deck, IDR 5,400,000 (≈ USD 331) per person. A double, a private balcony and a wooden bathtub in the open air.

Malang and Madiun are the two keys with a balcony. The step from Surabaya to Malang is the price of that balcony; the step from Malang to Madiun is the price of the tub. Write the two sums down and decide whether they are worth it to you.

Sharing Gresik

Four bunks, two stacks, one aisle and one shared bathroom: Gresik in a sentence. It is the only cabin sold bed by bed, so on most sailings you share it with travellers you have not met. The open trip has no rule printed on who shares with whom, so if that matters to you, say so in your first message and we tell you how many of the other bunks are already sold on your date.

The room itself is fitted like the others: air conditioning, a window at the far end, sockets, linen and a towel. What it lacks is a bathroom of its own and a double bed. The shared bathroom has not been photographed, which is why there is no picture of it on this site.

For a solo traveller the sum is simple. One bunk costs IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206). A private cabin for one is not on the fare list, because private cabins are sold for two paying guests. For two friends on a budget, two Gresik bunks cost twice IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206), against twice IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264) for Surabaya with a door and a bathroom of your own.

Four friends travelling together can take all of Gresik and close the door on the rest of the boat. Ask for all four bunks in one message.

What the fare pays for

The open-trip fare covers more than a charter fare does, because a guide and a camera come with it. Included: pickup from the airport or your hotel between 10:00 and 11:00 and the ride back, three meals a day, free-flowing water, tea and coffee, snacks and soft drinks, linen and a bath towel, a mask and snorkel, a local guide, photo and video documentation by GoPro, mirrorless camera and drone, Starlink Wi-Fi, an ikat cloth to wear for photos, the paddle board and the canoe.

Not included: the Komodo National Park entrance fee and the ranger fee, flights, travel insurance, personal spending and tips for the crew. Fins are not in the kit at all, included or extra; there are none on board.

Park entry is charged by the head and by the day: IDR 250,000 for a foreign visitor, IDR 50,000 for an Indonesian citizen on a weekday. Ranger and other levies come on top and can change, so we give you the current list in writing before the balance is paid.

Check the list below against the one from any other boat you are weighing. Better read here than on the pier.

Which Monday or Friday?

Open-trip sailings start every Monday & Friday, and the next one is Monday, 12 October 2026. The calendar below shows every open-trip start from today, 127 start dates to the end of 2027, and the 2027 dates are listed as provisional. Some dates are missing for a reason: when the whole boat is chartered privately, there is no open trip on those dates. An open-trip departure sails once at least four cabins are booked. If a date does not reach four, the guests booked on it move to a phinisi of the same class or higher on the same dates at no extra cost, or receive a full refund within 14 days.

The 2027 calendar is open too. It follows the same Monday and Friday pattern; a handful of those dates are confirmed and the rest stay provisional until the full list is issued. The 2027 open-trip fares are not out yet. A 2027 date can be booked today against the current list, and if the fare moves before the balance falls due, you hear it from us first and may cancel without charge.

Your cabin is held from the moment 50 per cent of the fare lands; the rest follows 30 days before the pickup. The compass under the calendar puts the start date, your cabin and the fare in one line, so you can see the sum before you send a message.

Choose a date first. A city you want may already be taken on it.

Open trips sail every Monday and Friday, except dates held by a private charter.

FAQ

Can I book a private cabin alone?

Not at a one-person fare. A private cabin needs two paying guests, and the boat's rate sheet prints no single-occupancy rate. Your per-bed option is a Gresik bunk at IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206). If you still want a cabin to yourself, write to us with the date and we check with the boat and answer in writing.

What if King Cirox 2 is held in port on my open-trip date?

If a breakdown, or a port or park order, keeps King Cirox 2 from sailing, we move you to another phinisi of the same class or higher on the same dates, at no extra cost. Prefer not to sail on a different boat? Then the whole fare comes back within 14 days. Either way you hear it from us first, in the same WhatsApp thread you booked in.

How much is an extra bed?

The extra-bed fare for each cabin, per person on the 3D2N, is printed in the fare table above and on the cabin card.

Will the fare for my cabin change in 2027?

It can. You book 2027 at today's fare list because the 2027 open-trip fares have not been issued. If they change before your balance is due, we tell you before asking for money, and you may cancel free of charge.

Which cabin should two friends who do not share a bed choose?

Gresik, as two bunks in a four-bunk room, is the only twin arrangement on the boat; every private cabin has one double bed. Two bunks cost twice IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206). The trade is the shared bathroom and, unless you also buy the other two bunks, two more guests in the room. If the four of you are friends, book all of Gresik and it becomes your room.

Are 2027 dates open for booking now?

Yes. The 2027 open-trip dates are on the calendar, on the boat's Monday and Friday sailings, and any 2027 date can be reserved for a private charter. Charters from 1 January to 31 July 2027 use the 2027 rate card on this site; later 2027 dates are confirmed in writing before any deposit. The 2027 open-trip fares have not been issued, so the current fare list applies; should a fare move before your balance falls due, we write to you first and you may cancel free of charge.
