Komodo solo traveller trip: one bunk of your own in Gresik
Updated 11 October 2026
Alone, you book one bunk in Gresik, a four-bunk cabin with a shared bathroom: IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206) for the 3D2N or IDR 2,900,000 (≈ USD 178) for the 2D1N, with no single supplement. Open trips sail every Monday & Friday; the next is Monday, 12 October 2026. Private cabins are sold for two paying guests, so the bunk is the solo fare.

The bunk price
One person, one bed, one fare: IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206) for three days and two nights, IDR 2,900,000 (≈ USD 178) if you join for two days and one night. That is the bunk price, and it is the yardstick for everything else on this page.
Gresik is the boat's share cabin. Four single bunks stand in two double-decker stacks facing each other across a narrow aisle, with ikat cloth draped over each upper bunk, a wall-mounted LG air conditioner with its remote, and a window block at the far end. It is the only cabin of the six without its own bathroom: everyone in the room shares one.
For that bunk you get what every open-trip guest gets: the pickup between 10:00 and 11:00, all meals, free-flow water, tea and coffee, snacks, the local guide, the GoPro, mirrorless and drone documentation, the canoe and the paddle board. Park fees and the ranger are outside, as on every fare.
The table below sets the bunk against the other five cabins, per person.

Why a private cabin needs two paying guests
Malang, Surabaya, Kediri, Jember and Madiun are each sold for at least two paying guests. Travel alone and want one of them, and you pay both places. Surabaya for one person costs two fares of IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264); Madiun, with the bathtub on its balcony, two fares of IDR 5,400,000 (≈ USD 331).
It is stated here so that it never turns up as a surprise on the invoice. The rule is printed in the boat's booklet as a minimum of two guests, and it is the same on every Monday and Friday sailing.
There are two ways round it. Book Gresik, which is what the bunk was built for. Or travel with one other person, a friend or someone you met in Bali, and split a private cabin at the per-person fare: two guests in Kediri each pay IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264).
A whole-boat charter is the third route, and alone the sum does not work: the 3D2N band for one to five is IDR 47,500,000 (≈ USD 2,914), whether one of you comes or five.
Who shares the room, and how safe it is
Your cabin-mates are up to three other open-trip guests who bought a bunk on the same date, or four if the extra bed is taken. No gender rule for Gresik appears in the boat's booklets. If you care who is in the room, ask us before you pay anything.
The boat carries 6 crew, and every open trip includes a local guide, who goes ashore with the group and the ranger. The equipment list carries the usual sea kit, from the liferaft to the AIS transponder; the photos show the liferaft canister and an orange ring by Kediri's windows.
Lockers in Gresik are not listed in the boat's booklets, so do not plan on one. Keep the passport, cash and phone in a small dry bag that stays with you.
On land, the precautions are the ones every first-timer should take: book with a licensed company against an invoice, never with someone at the pier. Ours is PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, NIB 1805260128363. Better read here than on the pier.
Monday, Friday, and your date
The open trip leaves every Monday & Friday, so a solo traveller picks a date rather than waiting for a group to form. The next departure is Monday, 12 October 2026, and 127 start dates are listed from today to the end of 2027, the 2027 ones as provisional. A date taken by a private charter drops off the calendar. Open-trip starts are Mondays and Fridays. Sailings outside Monday and Friday run on request; ask us on WhatsApp.
The 2D1N guest joins the same sailing, spends day one and day two with the group and leaves before the third morning: day two ends at Manta Point, where a small transfer boat takes them to the pier in Labuan Bajo. That suits a tight itinerary; the 3D2N gives you the Seture beach and snorkel on day three.
Dates in 2027 follow the same two weekdays and can be booked today at this year's list. A 2027 fare that changes before the balance falls due reaches you first, with a free cancellation if you want out.

What to bring, and how to book
Start with the water: the 3D2N has five snorkel stops, from the pier at Manjarite to the beach at Seture, so pack swimwear that dries fast and a rash vest for the drift at Manta Point.
Then what we ask every guest to pack: walking footwear, a daypack, sun cream, your own medicines and a little emergency cash. Add rupiah from a town ATM, since there are none on the islands, and an eSIM, because signal between the islands is patchy even with Starlink Wi-Fi on board.
Booking alone takes three steps. Send the date and the word ‘Gresik’. Receive a written quote and an invoice. Pay the 50 per cent deposit, and the balance 30 days before departure. About a week out, send your name exactly as it appears in your passport, with the passport number, for the park ticket.
The steps below show the same sequence with what you receive at each one.

FAQ
Can two solo travellers who meet share a private cabin?
Yes. Two paying guests is all a private cabin needs, so two strangers who agree to share Kediri, Surabaya or Jember each pay IDR 4,300,000 (≈ USD 264). Book together and the cabin is yours.
What if nobody else books Gresik on my date?
You still pay one bunk, IDR 3,350,000 (≈ USD 206), and you have the cabin to yourself. The departure sails once at least four cabins are booked. If your date does not reach four, or the boat cannot sail, you sail the same dates on a phinisi of the same class or higher at no extra cost, or receive a full refund within 14 days.
Can I take the 2D1N on my own?
Yes, at IDR 2,900,000 (≈ USD 178) a bunk: you join the Monday or Friday sailing and leave after day two.
Will I eat with the other guests?
Yes. Meals are served at the dining table, with the dishes set down the middle to share. By the second dinner of the 3D2N you know who has climbed Padar before and who snores in the bunk above. It is the quickest way on board to stop being a solo traveller, and nobody minds if you sit at the end with a book instead.
Is there anywhere to lock my valuables?
Lockers are not listed for Gresik in the boat's booklets, so plan without one. A small dry bag that goes where you go covers passport, cash and phone for all three days of the 3D2N.
