The King Cirox 2 captain's log: field notes from the boat, news from the port
Updated 11 October 2026
Two people write this captain's log. Jewel, our guide and vessel surveyor, files field notes on what she checks on a boat before we list it, King Cirox 2 included: cabins, bunks, sockets, the Wi-Fi. Sugeng files Labuan Bajo news that can change a booking, from port closures to park quotas, each with its source and date. Nothing here is invented.

Who writes, and by what rule
Every entry carries a byline, a date and a reason to exist. Two names appear on them.
Jewel is one of our guides and our vessel surveyor. A field note lists what Jewel checks when she walks a boat: Gresik's aisle between the bunk stacks, the stairs to the roof, which wall sockets reach a bed, the Starlink Wi-Fi. Every boat we sell is inspected by Jewel before it is listed; a boat that fails is not listed.
Sugeng runs the news desk. His beat is whatever in Labuan Bajo can move your trip: weather warnings, harbour closures, park quotas and ticket rules, payment scams, immigration changes. Each item names its source, such as BMKG, the park authority, KSOP or a national newspaper, and the date it was published.
What never appears: a guest we cannot name with consent, a quote we cannot source, and a story written to fill a slot. New entries appear up to twice a week. A quiet week gets none.
Field notes from the boat
A field note answers the questions a booklet leaves open. The booklets for King Cirox 2 list 6 air-conditioned cabins, five private bathrooms and one shared, power sockets in every cabin and Starlink Wi-Fi. They do not say whether the upper bunks have a reading light, where the masks and snorkels are kept, or which socket type the cabins use.
Those are the notes Jewel writes, one subject at a time, with photographs taken on the walk rather than borrowed from a brochure. When a note finds something the booklet did not mention, the cabin pages are corrected to match, and the note records the change.
A note can be wrong. When one is, the correction goes at the top with its own date, and the note says plainly what it stated before. You should be able to see what we said and when we changed our mind.

Port and park news, traced to source
Labuan Bajo news moves fast and travels badly. Between late December 2025 and early February 2026 the harbour master stopped tourist sailings in stages; in August 2026, rough water shut Komodo and Padar for three days and Rinca alone stayed open. A daily visitor cap on the park has applied since April 2026, and its size for the end of the year has been reported two different ways.
Sugeng's job is to take a story like that back to its source, report what the source says and what it leaves unclear, and date it. When two sources disagree, the post says so instead of choosing the more dramatic number.
If a closure or a rule change touches a date you have booked, you will not learn it from this page. We write to you in your booking thread first, with your options under the terms, a full refund within 14 days among them. The news post comes after.
